Marimo ‘Moss’ Ball

Light

Low to medium indirect light. Keep Marimo away from direct light. They are native to cool lakes, so they prefer cool temperatures and filtered light.

Water

Change the water every two weeks. You can use regular tap water. Pro tip: let your tap water sit out for 24 hours. If algae starts to build up on your glass surface, clean with a brush.

Swirl

Marimo keep their spherical shape thanks to the gentle ebb and flow of lake water movement. Swirl the container 3x weekly

Roots

Freshwater lakes in Japan, Estonia, Iceland, Scotland, and Australia.

Smarty Plants

‘Marimo’ is a Japanese word that translates to seaweed ball. They are not, in fact, moss, but a rare form of spherical algae.
